Rent and set up a Satisfactory server – guide

In short

Your server keeps running even when you are offline. In the game you connect through the Server Manager with the address and port from the panel, claim the server (name and admin password) and create a session or upload a save.

You set the number of players yourself. How much your server can really handle depends on how big your factory gets: the bigger, the more RAM.

  1. In Satisfactory’s main menu, open the Server Manager and choose Add Server.
  2. Enter the address and port from the panel. The server appears in the list.
  3. Claim the server: the first time you connect, you give the server its name and set the admin password. Do this straight away – as long as it belongs to nobody, anyone who knows the address can do it.
  4. Choose Create Game (the starting area and a session name) or Manage Saves (upload your own save and start it).
  5. Your fellow players enter the same address. You set a password for fellow players in the Server Manager’s settings.

Saves are stored as .sav files on the server; in the file manager or via SFTP you can download them, for example before you switch to Experimental (Files, editor and SFTP).

Setting Default Purpose
Maximale Spieler (maximum players) from 1 how many may build at the same time
Beim Start aktualisieren (update on start) on fetches the current version at every start
Spielversion (game version) Stabil (stable) Stable or Experimental; all fellow players need the same one
Aufbewahrte Speicherstände (saves kept) 3 this many automatic saves are kept
Zeitlimit beim Verbinden (connection timeout) 30 s and 20 s set higher if fellow players lose the connection with large factories
Spieldateien prüfen (verify game files) off checks at startup and re-downloads damaged files

Switching to Experimental: make a backup first (Backups and databases), change the game version from “public” to “experimental” and restart.

Problem Solution
Connection drops while loading a large factory Increase the connection timeout
“Version mismatch” Server and players must use the same version (Stable or Experimental)
Stuttering Check RAM in the history, change plan or Boost

Yes, via Manage Saves in the Server Manager.

At every start the server fetches the current version if “Beim Start aktualisieren” (update on start) is on.
