Book a dedicated IP address for your game server

What a dedicated IP address brings your Nexthosting game server, what it costs, how to book it and what changes when you switch over.

In short

Normally all servers on a host share one address. With a dedicated IP address (Eigene IP-Adresse) your server stands alone under it – in server lists, at Steam and during attacks that are actually aimed at another server. On top of that you get the protection panel Nexthosting Schutz at no extra charge. Price: €3.79 per month and €4.99 one-time (as of October 2026). The address is usually set up within a few minutes.

What does a dedicated address bring?

How booking works

From booking to your own address

In individual cases the allocation can take until the next working day. Until then, your server is reachable under the shared address. If a paid address cannot be provided, Nexthosting refunds the amounts paid.

When ordering

When ordering, you choose the dedicated address under “Zusatzleistungen” (additional services).

  1. Details anzeigen (show details) – what the dedicated address brings
  2. Eigene IP-Adresse instead of “Gemeinsame Adresse des Hosts” (the host’s shared address)

On your plan’s product page, choose the Eigene IP-Adresse card under Zusatzleistungen. The address is ordered and set up automatically after payment. See also Ordering.

For a running server

In the panel you find the box on your server’s overview.

  1. Eigene IP-Adresse box with the advantages
  2. Ansehen und buchen (“view and book”)
  1. In the panel click Ansehen und buchen – or open your game server’s contract in the customer account and choose Eigene IP-Adresse. There is also the button Eigene IP-Adresse buchen (“book a dedicated IP address”) under Netzwerk (network) in the panel.
  2. Check the price. For a later booking you pay the set-up fee and the monthly price pro rata for the remaining days of the billing period immediately – from your balance or with a payment method that confirms instantly.
  3. Once payment arrives, the address is ordered. Your server is restarted once.
  4. After that, the monthly price is part of your contract price.

After the switch

  • Your players connect with the new address and the same port. The new address is shown at the top in the panel header.
  • If you pointed your own domain at the server, change the A record to the new address – see Ports, domain and subdomain.
  • Update entries in server lists and voting sites.
  • Under Angriffe (attacks) in the panel and in Nexthosting Schutz at schutz.nexthosting.net you now set up your protection.
  • In the customer account you see your active dedicated addresses in an overview.

Give up the address

You can give up the address at any time. The monthly price then ends for the future. Amounts already paid and the set-up fee are not refunded.

When the contract ends, the dedicated address ends too. The settings in Nexthosting Schutz are deleted at the latest 60 days afterwards.

Do my ports change?

No. Only the address changes; ports, files and settings stay as they are.

Does my server get more power from this?

No. You still share the host’s line and hardware with other servers. For more power see Upgrade your server and boost.

Do I need a data processing agreement for Nexthosting Schutz?

If you run the server not just privately – as a community, club or public server, say – you conclude the data processing agreement before use. It is available in the customer account. See Privacy and DPA.
